Kwesi Aboagye chairs Volta Regional NDC

Hohoe, Dec. 20, GNA - Mr Kwesi Aboagye, a former Volta Regional Deputy Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was on Saturday elected the Regional Chairman of the Party.

Mr Aboagye takes over from Mr Modestus Ahiable, who has been appointed Ambassador to Benin.

He polled 109 votes to beat Gyapong Kudzo who had 94 votes at the Regional Conference.

The two before the elections, promised to use their expertise to enhance the future of the Party.

Mr Aboagye stressed on his experience as a Former Deputy Regional Chairman and Mr Kudzo focused on winning the Nkwanta North Parliamentary Seat for the Party.

The Conference, which was attended by almost all party stalwarts, saw the election of 10 other executive members.

They include Mr Emmanuel Akrobotu and Mr Kosi Kedem, first and second Vice Chairmen respectively. The others are, Mr Simon Amegashie-Viglo, Secretary, Madam Mary Agbenyenu, Deputy Secretary, Mr Henry Ametepe, Organiser and Mr Daniel Attipoe, Deputy Organiser. The rest are, Mr Nicholas Fato, Propaganda Secretary, Mr Samuel Lumor, Deputy Propaganda Secretary, Mr Myles Simon Battor, Treasurer, and Madam Seline Hutor, Deputy Treasurer. Earlier, President John Evans Atta Mills in a message delivered for him by Ludwig Hlodze, a Presidential Staffer, urged members of the Party to exercise patience while his government laid a solid foundation for a "better tomorrow." All the spea kers, including Mr Kwabena Adjei, National Chairman of the Party, called for peace and unity among the rank and file of the Party. He said with peace, the Party could break factionalism driven by greed that was gradually creeping into it. Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, urged members to remain loyal to the Party and retain the status of the Region as the Party's "World Bank".

He assured them of a "better tomorrow" with government's policies such as the enhanced National Youth Employment Programme and provision of school uniforms and exercise books for pupils. The new executive was inaugurated with an advice to consult past executive members regularly. 20 Dec 09
