Sunyani(BAR), April 27, GNA - The leadership of Convention Peoples' Party (CPP) would soon embark on fund-raising activities at constituency and regional levels to enhance its financial status. As part of the programme, members are expected to pay monthly dues regularly to ensure their commitment to the Party.
Mr Jonathan A. Attoh, Administrator at the Party's headquarters disclosed this at a day's workshop organised for constituency executives in Brong-Ahafo in Sunyani at the weekend.
It was to educate the participants to enforce the Party's principles and deploy committed members for effective organisational work to enhance structural framework during Election 2012. Mr Attoh noted that CPP's inability to finance its programmes at the constituency level was a major challenge and urged the constituency executives to engage in events to raise funds for the Party. He said each of the Party's Council of Elders would contribute three Ghana cedis every month and a committee would be instituted to ensure transparency in the fund-raising activities.
Dr Abu Sakara, CPP Presidential Running Mate for Election 2008 noted that the Party's failure to win power was due to the inability of the leadership to put up formidable structures to meet the current standard of the nation's politics, but gave the assurance that the necessary measures were being put in place to address the situation. He advised the executives to organise games for the youth in their respective areas to foster friendship with the public to help woo more supporters for the Party during the next elections.
