Let's accept to make sacrifices for better future - DCE

The Afigya-Kwabre District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku Kaakyire, has asked parents to accept to make sacrifices towards a better future for their children.

He said they should cut down on frivolous spending to save money to give their kids’ education.

He was addressing a parade of school children and voluntary groups held at Kodie to mark 59 years of nationhood.

More than 800 students selected from basic and senior high schools (SHS) from across the district were on hand to participate in the colorful event.

The DCE underlined the government’s resolve to continue to put more resources into the development of education – create access and enhance quality, but said this needed to be complemented by parents.

They should make sure that all children were not only enrolled in school but provided with the basic needs to retain them.

Mr. Oppong-Kyekyeku also advised the young people to take responsibility for their education by working hard on their books.

As the government did everything to build the infrastructure, supply vital logistics, engaged teachers to teach them and parents went through pain to pay for their education, he said, they had “a duty to learn – to make good use of the opportunity”.
