Our Party, the New Patriotic Party is scheduled to elect our Presidential candidate on the 18th October 2014. This exercise is the most important activity in the Party organizational Calendar. It is important because the process will produce the arrow head of the Party for the 2016 General Elections. I am confident that our Party will go through this process well and come out stronger.
I have worked and canvassed for Nana Addo since 1998. He was my choice over President Kufuor and the rest in Sunyani and has always been in the entire intra-Party contest to elect our flagbearer since his first attempt in 1998. I believe he still remains our Party’s strongest bet for the upcoming crucial National elections. Nana Addo has shown without a shred of doubt that he understands our Party, the country and the people. As a longtime frontline activist and advocate for democratic governance and the rule of law, he spearheaded the fight for freedom of speech and association; working with other believers of social and economic democracy.
I believe he is the most suitable person to lead the Party. I also believe he stands a positive chance in the crucial inter Party contest just around the corner. The grassroots NPP fraternity has strongly indicated their resolve not only to work and canvass for him but to vote for him on the 18th October. The decision of the Special Delegates Votes last month where Nana topped the seven-man contest with over 80% of the votes cast is a clear indication that our Party still believe Nana Addo is the most appropriate person to bear our flag into the 2016 contest.
I expect a massive win for Nana Addo on the 18th October. It will be a win for the Party and the country. Our country is slipping slowly to death. The economy is completely derided. Government has failed monumentally to steer the affairs of the country properly and every sector of the Ghanaian economy is in total shambles. We need a leader who will revive the economy; a leader who is decisive and proactive; a leader who can rally the nation in difficult times and a leader who will deliver a system to check the wanton corrupt practices witnessed in the Mahama led administration. That leader is Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo; a leader with great conviction and clarity in his believe for our country.
I reaffirm my support for Nana Addo and call on all delegates to vote massively for him for a resounding victory to send a clear message to the NDC that we are here for business as a government in waiting.
As we approach the Election Day, I urge all members and supporters of our great to conduct ourselves in a manner that will not hurt the Party going forward. We must be guided by what binds us together and the battle ahead. We might differ in our choices for who becomes our flagbearer but we agree that our Party is the most viable Party that can defeat the NDC and manage the economy well.
I wish the three aspirants well as they campaign across the length and breadth of the country.
