Alan Kyeremanten was once a financial colossus who had the support of several strong financiers who made his campaign rich.
But his third attempt to contest as flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party, has seen most of his political financiers withdrawing their services and throwing their weight behind his bitterest rivalry, Nana Akufo-Addo.
Popular among them is the current Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, who plays an integral role in Nana Addo’s camp. Few days ago, Mr. Alan Kyeremanten was out accusing Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of buying his followers with money.
One of Alan’s spokespersons, Phillip Longdon, said the campaign team had, therefore, started observing the development and was mapping out a strategy against what he termed “propaganda moves” from Akufo-Addo's camp.
However, for the purposes of setting the record straight, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako’s office has come out to respond to the allegation. According to his spokesperson, Andy Owusu, such “loose talks” from Mr. Kyeremanten could only be related to the looming defeat about to swallow up his presidential ambition.
He explained to Peacefmonline.com that Chairman ‘Wontumi’ is a self-made man who cannot be bought with money. Mr. Owusu added that not too long ago, Mr. Kyeremanten freely received all the financial help from Mr. Antwi-Boasiako, and no one claimed he had swayed ‘Wontumi’ with money.
Mr. Owusu attributed the recent claim by Mr. Kyeremanten to some form of dizziness which has gripped him. He questioned him over his inability to contribute to the party when needed.
According to him, aside Nana Akufo Addo, Mr. Kyeremanten who goes by the name ‘Alan- Cash’, refused to contribute to the welfare of the party when they established orphan constituencies to help run the affairs of the party.
He labeled Mr. Kyeremanten, an ‘ingrate’ who knows his chances of winning the flagbearer spot is getting slimmer by the day and for that reason, would want to see the NPP disintegrate.
