MP elect for Lower Manya deny allegations

Mr Okletey Terlabi, Member of Parliament elect for Lower Manya, has denied allegation by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that results of the 2012 Presidential Election from the constituency were doctored.

He said the allegation was a ploy by the party leadership to foment trouble and create confusion in the country.

Mr Terlabi, who is also the Eastern Regional Minister, was addressing the media at Odumase Krobo to react to the allegations.

He said the Electoral Commission (EC) collated results from the polling stations in the constituency and declared that President John Mahama, National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate obtained 30,185 votes and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, NPP presidential candidate, obtained 13,965 votes.

Mr Terlabi said all the polling agents including those of the NPP signed the red sheet provided by the Electoral Commission, which was sent to collation centres and the result were announced publicly to the media.

He advised NDC supporters to avoid falling prey to the NPP “Violence” to avoid any unfortunate incident.

Mr Terlabi exhibited the red sheet that was duly signed by all party agents to newsmen.
