The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the selected leaders of the Majority Caucus for the 9th Parliament.
Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, will serve as the Majority Leader, with George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, as the Deputy Majority Leader.
Rockson-Nelson Kwami Etse Dafeamekpor, Member of Parliament for South Dayi, will be the Majority Chief Whip, supported by Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Ada, as the First Deputy Majority Whip, and Richard Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Bia East, as the Second Deputy Majority Whip.
This was contained in a statement issued by the General Secretary of the party, Fifi Kwetey, on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
"The NDC is pleased to announce the selected leaders of the Majority Caucus for the 9th Parliament of the Republic of Ghana. Following extensive deliberations by the National Executive Committee in consultation with the NDC Majority Caucus in Parliament, the following distinguished Members of Parliament have been designated to serve in leadership roles," it stated.
It noted that the decision reiterates the party's commitment to upholding principles of effective representation in Parliament.
"This decision underscores the NDC's commitment to upholding the principles of effective representation and leadership in Parliament. The selection process was conducted in compliance with all legal frameworks and established parliamentary practices. The Party has officially communicated these appointments to the Speaker of Parliament, with a request to take the necessary steps to formalize the appointments in line with the established traditions of the House," it noted.
The party expressed hope that the new leaders would deliver on its commitments to the citizens.
"The NDC extends its full support to the new Majority Leadership as they work to advance the Party's legislative agenda and deliver on its commitments to the people of Ghana," it added.
