Mahama advocates regional unity in meeting with Togo’s President Faure Gnassingbé

As part of his preparations for his inauguration on Tuesday, 7 January 2025, President-Elect John Dramani Mahama has embarked on a diplomatic tour of neighbouring countries to reinforce regional ties.

During a meeting with Togo’s President Faure Gnassingbé, Mahama underscored the importance of fostering stronger relationships within the West African sub-region.

He highlighted the interconnectedness of the people in the region, emphasising shared cultural, historical, and economic bonds.

During the meeting, Mahama noted that by working together, both countries could better impact the lives of their people, who are connected in many ways, including through tribe and history.

The President-Elect stressed that collaboration among neighbouring nations is essential for addressing common challenges and maximising opportunities for growth and development across borders.
