A former National Treasure aspirant of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Yusif Tedam, has criticised the former president John Dramani Mahama over his proposed 24-Hour Economy policy.

Dr. Tedam, who has questioned the feasibility of the plan, accused Mahama of offering a vague and impractical solution, describing it as a desperate attempt to regain political power.

He expressed concern that after nine months of promoting the 24-Hour Economy idea, Mahama had yet to present a concrete plan or explain how the policy would address the country's pressing economic challenges.

"It remains nothing more than a whimsical and mythical vision," Dr. Tedam told the media on December 4, 2024, arguing that Mahama's proposal lacked the necessary details for successful execution.

He also questioned Mahama's credibility, pointing to several instances of mismanagement during his previous tenure as president.

To buttress his point, he listed a series of failures, including prolonged power outages, cancellation of allowances for teachers and nursing trainees, and the collapse of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), among other alleged failings.

Dr. Tedam emphasised that Mahama's leadership was marred by scandals and mismanagement, warning that a return to his leadership would only set the country back.

He, however, praised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his clear and actionable vision for Ghana's future.

He highlighted Bawumia's policies on job creation, tax reforms, and building a world-class digital economy, stressing that this approach offers a detailed roadmap for Ghana's progress.

"Unlike Mahama, who thrives on empty promises, Bawumia provides real solutions with detailed implementation plans. This is the kind of leadership Ghana deserves," Dr. Tedam said.

The NPP member urged Ghanaians to reject Mahama's bid for a second term, urging voters to choose a future of progress with Dr. Bawumia.

"Ghanaians cannot afford to revisit the failures of the past. Let us choose a future of progress with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia," he said.
