Former member of parliament for Ahafo Ano South, Hon. Stephen Balado Manu says the first hundred days of president John Dramani Mahama has been that of misrule and unprecedented failure.
Hon. Balado Manu said the failure of the Mahama administration started the very day he was sworn into office. He said the administration is bedeviled with myriad of strike actions, electricity problems, water and gas shortages.
He said.
Mr. Balado Manu was speaking on Radio Univers’ political talk show, Behind the Headlines. He posited that hundred days in office was enough to determine how a government will perform adding, the Mahama government cannot “write any successful essay of their performance within the first hundred days”.
However, a political science lecturer with the University of Ghana, Dr. Seidu Alidu who was also on the program said since the Mahama government did not set targets for the first hundred days, it was difficult to assess its performance within the first hundred days.
Dr. Alidu said the president has nevertheless achieved a lot within the first hundred days. He applauded the president for appointing all his ministers and almost all deputy ministers within the first hundred days.
He also lauded the president for including youthful people in his government. He said the government needs more time and urged Ghanaians to bear with the government since it is faced with the most unprecedented challenges any administration has ever faced including the current court case challenging the legitimacy of president Mahama.
Dr. Alidu said the government is also face with the challenge of dealing with energy crisis, water and gas shortages, labour unrest among others. He praised the president for the calm he has maintained in the face of the barrage of challenges his government is facing. He said the first hundred days of president Mahama “is more challenge driven than a lot of remarkable success to talk about”.
