A worker at the office of former president Mahama has revealed he has intentions of contesting the 2020 elections.

Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, who also doubles as former MCE for Obuasi, claims that members belonging to Mahama's close circle are all aware of his intention to lead the opposition NDC to power.

“I am a worker for the former president and I can say on authority that if the party opens nominations he is going to contest,” he revealed in an interview with Starr FM.

YEN.com.gh has earlier reported of how ten regional chairmen of the opposition NDC unilaterally "approved" for the former president to contest the elections.

In a communique cited by YEN.com.gh, former president Mahama was advised to heed the call of supporters and party executives calling on him to make a come-back in 2020. But the call for Mahama to contest the 2020 elections has been rejected by a section of NDC executives who argue that Mahama is no match for his contender and president of the republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.

Mahama will be documented as the only one-term president who re-appeared for general elections in the 4th Republic.

Meanwhile, other top members of the NDC have also expressed interest in contesting the 2020 elections. Ekwow Spio Garbrah is the most publicized presidential hopeful of the NDC who insists he remains the best choice to lead the opposition party to victory.
