The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has expressed strong optimism that the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, will win the upcoming election due to his position on the ballot paper.

He opined that the number eight represents resurrection and regeneration, and come December 7, 2024, the NDC will win the presidential election.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) picked the number one position in the Electoral Commission’s (EC) balloting for the upcoming December 7 presidential elections.

The main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), drew the 8th position, while the All-People’s Congress (APC) candidate, Hassan Abdulai Ayariga, secured the 9th spot.

There have been several interpretations given to the various positions picked by the candidates contesting the elections.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Builsa South MP posited that Mahama will break the eight and be sworn in as president to complete his eight-year term.

Article 66 of the 1992 Constitution guarantees that a person elected as President shall, subject to clause (3) of this article, hold office for a term of four years beginning from the date on which he is sworn in as President, but that individual shall not be elected to hold office as President of Ghana for more than two terms.

After serving a four-year constitutional term, Mahama lost the 2016 and 2020 general elections to President Akufo-Addo.

He is running for president again in the 2024 general elections, and if elected on December 7, 2024, he will be eligible to serve one term.

Dr. Apaak believes Mahama’s position on the ballot signifies victory, saying, “breaking their eight to complete his eight. In the scripture, the number eight signifies regeneration and resurrection.”
