Some angry New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Manhyia North Constituency in the Ashanti Region have warned of bloodbaths if the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) dared to rerun polling station elections there.
Over 100 party members, comprising polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, and constituency executives are kicking against a decision by the NEC to rerun elections for those positions.
The angry executives, who were wielding machetes and stones, chanted war songs to protest the decision at the weekend.
According to Class News’ Ashanti regional correspondent, Hafiz Tijani, some people in the constituency, whose names are not on the current register that will be used to run the parliamentary primary, are behind the machination and want their names included in the register, but the delegates have said they will not allow that to happen.
According to the delegates, the current album has been used to run previous primaries and they have just one election to run with the album before it expires.
The delegates have warned the National Executive Committee against rerunning the polls or risk an outbreak of mayhem.
