Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, the brother of the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, secured the number one position on the ballot paper, aiming to replace his brother.
The ballot draw, conducted on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in the constituency, placed Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffuor Awuah at number two, Akwasi Coker Gyambibi at number three, and James Owusu Boakye at number four.
The Manhyia South parliamentary seat opened up recently after Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh was chosen as the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential running mate.
All four candidates, including Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffuor Awuah, Akwasi Coker Gyambibi, and James Owusu Boakye, have been thoroughly vetted and approved by the party leadership, to ensure a fair and transparent election scheduled for Sunday, July 15, 2024.
Political analysts predict a close race between Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh and Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffuor Awuah.
