In an unexpected turn of events, Dr. Agnes Ayisha, the aspiring presidential candidate and founder of the Liberation of National Youth for Change (LNYC), made headlines for a surprising reason.
The candidate seemed to have ‘forgotten’ to fill out her nomination forms when she appeared at the Electoral Commission to file her nomination.
According to her, due to the many activities she has been involved in, including campaigning in various regions and seeking endorsements from key individuals, she forgot to complete the forms.
In a video shared by Joynewsontv on Instagram, Dr. Ayisha explained to the Electoral Commission (EC) that “The intention was to contest as a presidential candidate. My vision is educational transformation, economic freedom, industrial evolution, resolve energy crisis. I have tried my best after picking my forms. We went to some regions and I got some endorsements. It is very challenging. As at now, I have everything but except for the form. I haven’t been able to complete the form.”
In her quest to still contest as a presidential candidate, Dr. Ayisha pleaded with the EC to reconsider and give her some additional time to complete the forms.
“So, I’m here to find out the next step if I’ll be given the chance to fill the form because I came in late and coming in late means I came with a vision to support and help the country but I haven’t been able to complete the vision but I have everything that needs to complete this process. I have my fans; I have the people but except the forms because the things are many,” she said.
In response, the Electoral Commission reportedly advised the candidate to channel her grievances through the appropriate channels, as they were only there to receive nominations.
Meanwhile, about 19 new faces have joined in the 2024 election race, standing as independent candidates of which Dr. Agnes Ayisha is included.
