Mills bares teeth

*No one touches my campaign team

THE FLAGBEARER of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, has debunked recent media reports that attempts were made by some powerful forces in his party to hijack his campaign team.

Prof. Mills was making his first public comment on the issue, which almost tore the NDC apart on JOY FM last week. ?Nobody has attempted to hijack my campaign team?, he insisted.

According to him what happened was that there were differences over the idea to broaden the pace of his campaign by setting up a ?coordinating campaign team? to brainstorm on the way forward for the party.

?There was some misunderstanding but we have put it behind us and are moving forward?, the former Vice President said, emphasising however that the NDC has every reason to sit down and think about the way forward.

He said he would not discourage anybody from coming together to give him suggestions but nothing would be entertained to thwart our efforts at all.

On when he would announce his running mate, the NDC flagbearer found it difficult to understand why everybody seem to be interested in ?Mills? running-mate? and asked, ?What about Dr Edward Mahama, Mr. Aggudey??.

He said he made up his mind on his presidential running-mate more than a month ago and at the appropriate time he would announce it, stressing that when he does, everybody would be happy.

On whether the numerous media speculation would not influence him, he maintained: ?I don?t sit down for people to choose for me. I have heard people say all kinds of things but one person they have refused to talk to is Atta Mills. You never know when the bridegroom is going to come so make sure that there is oil in your lamps?.
