The Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Phillis Naa Koryoo, has spoken after her release from police custody.
It will be remembered that Phillis Naa Koryoo was detained by the Ghana Police Service earlier this week.
This occurred after she was invited to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for questioning when a weapon was found in her car.
Addressing the enthusiastic members of the political party who kept vigil to ensure her release from police custody, Naa Koryoo said, "This is the beginning of our victory. We will deliver the seat."
She took the opportunity to express her gratitude to all the teeming supporters who came out to support her, saying, "I am grateful to you all," she said.
The Chairman of the opposition political party, Asiedu Nketiah, also spoke, indicating that the NDC will not be intimidated by security agencies that want to act as agents of the governing political party.
"The laws of the country are meant for all of us. There should be no discrimination in applying them. We will not be victims of the peace that the country enjoys. Freedom is not free. We will fight for freedom. We will not allow the coercive powers of the state to be used against us."
