A Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Ade Coker, has said the NDC’s defeat in the 2016 elections were caused by the various campaign coordinators of the party who were burnt on pursuing their own self-agenda.
According to him, these campaign coordinators sidelined their regional party executives and without them, the results for both the parliamentary and presidential in 2012 would have better than the results in 2016.
Mr Ade Coker also added that the various interest groups in the party that were made to lead various campaigns in the regions they are not originally from encountered some challenges like language barrier and time constraint because most of them were in hurry to return to their place of origin.
“About 40% of those funds given to the parliamentary candidates should have been given to the various constituencies to use in running their campaign activities since they equally have a stake in the elections,” he said.
The regional chairman believes that if the above issues are handled properly, the party stands a greater chance of wresting power back from the NPP considering how the ruling NPP has not fulfilled almost all the campaign promises they made to the good people of Ghana.
Mr Ade-Coker, however, praised some of his other executives for the teamwork and team spirit they always exhibit. He expressed his appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all of them, most especially Alhaji Yahaya Kundow, Victor Adonu Quarshie, Anthony Nukpenu and all the others.
