The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Dramani Mahama, has promised to take back all state lands and properties allegedly looted under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo/Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia-led government.

In a post shared on X on Thursday, June 20, 2024, the former president bemoaned what he described as the 'disposal of state lands and properties' at an alarming rate under the current administration.

He said that should he win the pending December 7, 2024, election, one of the topmost priorities of his government would be taking back the state lands and properties looted under this government.

"The Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government are disposing of state lands and properties at an unprecedented rate. When elected, my administration will prioritize the investigation and repossession of these lands," the former president wrote.

His comments come on the back of allegations of state capture by the Akufo-Addo government following revelations of shares of hotels of the state-owned Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) being sold to Rock City Hotel Limited, a company owned by Food and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong.

On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who made the revelations on the deal, led the 'Hands Off Our Hotels Demonstration' to protest the sale of 60% shares in four SSNIT-owned hotels to Rock City.
