The running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, has lambasted the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration for building community day schools in the country.

According to the former education minister, the Ghanaian Senior High School system is primarily based on boarding schools, and the NDC intentionally built such community day schools in the bushes to make access to the schools difficult for the students.

Speaking on a campaign platform in a video shared on X by UTV on October 28, 2024, he called on Ghanaians to consider electing the flagbearer of the NPP in the December 7, 2024 elections to lead the country towards transformation.

“NDC’s running mate is a minister for education, and NPP’s running mate is also a minister for education. Look at the miserable schools that were built and look at the schools that the NPP built. That will show you that if you need a good person to lead this country, bring a good party into power.

“The schools that they built in the bushes, how would the children walk and go to schools? Secondary schools in the Ghanaian system are boarding schools, but because they don’t want you to go to schools, that is why they built day schools in the bush. You see the roads that we have built, which people did it?” he said.
