NAPO's replacement: Four aspirants cleared to contest Manhyia South NPP primaries

The National Executive Committee of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed all four persons who filed nominations to contest the Manhyia South parliamentary seat on the party's ticket.

Four out of the five individuals who picked up nomination forms to contest the seat were able to submit their forms on Tuesday and have successfully gone through the vetting process.

In the order of balloting, the four persons include Nana Afriyie Owusu Prempeh, who picked number one, followed by Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.

Number three on the ballot is Akwasi Coker Gyambibi, and the fourth person is James Owusu Boakye.

They were all cleared after answering questions asked by a five-member committee.

The committee was chaired by the 1st National Vice Chairman, Dankwah Smith Butey.

The aspirants stated their vision for the constituency and also pledged to help the party retain the seat on December 7, 2024.

Meanwhile, the primary has been slated for Sunday, July 14, 2024.

Speaking in an interview with the media after the process, the Manhyia South Constituency Secretary, Haruna Alhassan, noted that about 550 delegates, comprising electoral area coordinators, constituency officers, the council of elders, and patrons, would be eligible to vote in the primaries.
