Political Marketing Strategist and Professor Kobby Mensah has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has not yet realized the change in his portfolio.

He should be cognizant of how to conduct himself publicly, especially regarding his utterances.

According to Professor Mensah, the outgoing Minister for Energy missed an opportunity to appear presidential and to dismiss the negative labeling during his unveiling in Kumasi on Tuesday.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh has faced heavy criticism following his claim that the incumbent President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has outperformed all previous presidents, including Ghana’s first president after independence, Kwame Nkrumah.

Speaking at a rally in Kumasi, where he was officially introduced as the running mate, the former Education Minister lauded President Akufo-Addo’s achievements as unprecedented.

However, in an interview with Starr News, Professor Kobby Mensah remarked that the Vice-Presidential position is a revered and dignified one, which Dr. Opoku Prempeh failed to embody.

He further commented that Dr. Opoku Prempeh sounded like a hype man on stage, seemingly forgetting his new role as running mate.

"It hadn't dawned on him the role he was assuming. I don't believe so. He is conducting himself as if he's a hype man. You're not a hype man. The Vice-Presidential position is a very dignified one. Thus, there is a certain ambiance that you are expected to bring to that level. There is a specific manner in which you must carry yourself. That rabble-rousing does not bode well for such a status," he stated.
