A leading member of the National Democratic Congress, Henry Osei Akoto, has made a mockery of the Bawumia/NAPO ticket heading into the December polls.

The former NDC National Organizer hopeful opined that Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh was strategically selected to become Dr Bawumia’s running mate in attempt to reduce his chances of winning the elections.

Expressing his opinion on his official X account, Henry Osei Akoto sarcastically said "I’m fully convinced Bawumia selected Napo to finish off his campaign kwatakwata”, accompanied by laughing emojis.

His comment comes in the wake of Dr Opoku Prempeh’s comments made during his unveiling at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi on June 9.

NAPO, in his speech to address party members, touted the achievements of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, saying no president in the country’s history, including Dr Kwame Nkrumah, has developed the country like the sitting president.

“Since independence from 1957 till today, we’ve not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo. I say from 1957 till today, you can bring your Kwame Nkrumah… no president who has protected Ghana and moved the country forward like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo”, he said.

He has since come under heavy backlash from the public as Ghanaians claim his statement was disrespectful to the revered Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
