The Canada Chapter of the governing National Democratic Congress has congratulated President John Mahama following his assumption of office for a second term in Ghana's history.

On January 7, 2025, Mahama officially took the oath of office as Ghana’s President for a second term, alongside Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who has made history as the country’s first female Vice President.

Mahama’s return to the presidency comes with a renewed mandate from the electorate, solidifying his position in Ghana’s democratic journey.

A statement issued by the Canada Chapter of the NDC on Friday, 10 January, said Mahama's victory is a testament to his unwavering commitment and an endorsement of his leadership by Ghanaians.

"On behalf of the NDC Canada Chapter and our dedicated membership, we extend our heartfelt congratulations on your well-deserved victory. This achievement is a testament to your unwavering commitment and the trust the people of Ghana have placed in your leadership.

"We are deeply appreciative of the resilience and determination you demonstrated throughout this journey. Your leadership style, characterized by tolerance and reassurance, has instilled confidence in many. We have witnessed firsthand your bravery, compassion, grace, and fervent advocacy for the people of Ghana. It is this dedication that makes your victory even more significant.

"As we acknowledge the challenges that accompany such a transition, we are confident that the efforts and sacrifices made along the way are worth it. Your vision and commitment to progress hold the promise of overcoming any obstacles that may arise," the statement said.

The group further congratulated Mahama, adding that his victory will inspire countless Ghanaians.

"With your ascension to leadership, we celebrate not just your victory but the hope and inspiration you represent for countless Ghanaians.

"You are indeed the father of our nation, and your triumph is a cause for great celebration. Together, we rejoice and say, 'Congratulations on a victory well deserved,'" the statement added.
