Sunyani, Jan. 5, GNA - The Brong-Ahafo Regional Functional Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday expressed worry about a section of party supporters who consistently criticize the government.
In a press statement signed by Mr Justice Samuel Adjei, the Regional Secretary of the committee, said the attitude of the supporters was aimed at derailing the government's achievements and bringing disunity within the rank and file.
It said the committee at the end of its first meeting called on members, supporters and sympathizers of the party to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity and work hard to help the party to retain power in the 2012 general election.
The meeting afforded the new Committee the opportunity of appraising the state of the party in the region and also to outline and discuss an action plan for the party within the first quarter of the year, it added. The statement added "the Committee also expressed satisfaction with the way and manner President John Evans Atta Mills and his team have so far managed the administration of the nation".
The statement observed with joy the processes and strategies put in place by the government to manage the "huge debt portfolio bequeathed to the NDC government by the previous administration, to create jobs, promote education and health among other sectors, which are all aimed at achieving the 'Better Ghana' agenda".
"Running an administration in a democratic dispensation such as ours demands a lot of patience, tolerance and resilience, which are the basic ingredients of ensuring a cohesive and unified action while at the same time ensuring that we do not compromise on the basic need for achieving accountability, rule of law and good governance, while exacting sanctions where and when there are infractions on the law", it said. The statement impressed on the party's followers and membership to rally behind the government in its efforts at addressing the challenges confronting the country.
