NDC Decend On Four 'Wise' Men

The former Deputy Defense Minsiter, Dr. Tony Aidoo, has strongly criticized the four Pastors who asked Mr. Rawlings to apologise to President Kufuor. He referred to them as hydrocrites and sycophants who are acting only to please President Kufuor.
Four Pastors namely: Rev. Dr Frimpong Manso, Moderator of the Presbytarian Church, Rt. Rev. Dr Aboagye Mensah, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Chruch, Arch Bishop C.A. Akrofi of the Anglican Church and the Chairman of the Ghana Pentecostal Council, Apostle Dr. Michael Ntumy in a statement last week asked Mr Rawlings to apologise to President Kufuor for insulting him.
The former President, Jerry Rawlings during a CJA Wahala Demonstration last month, likened Mr Kufuor to Atta Ayi, the nation's notorious Armed Robber. Dr Tony Aidoo made his comments in an answer to a question at a Press Conference by the NDC, in response to the Pastoral Letter signed by four Pastors. The Statement read by Mr Lee Ocran said it is unfortunate that after years of insults, the Pastors are now intervening. He sited instances where NPP officials have insulted Mr Rawlings, His Wife, and NDC officials and non of the four Pastors uttered a word.
Mr Ocran pointed out that President Kufuor in April 2000 described former President Rawlings and his NDC Government as criminal, irresponsible and short-sighted just because the NDC Government had increased fuel prices to about 20%. Dr Jones Ofori Atta of the NPP in 1993 described Jerry Rawlings as an Armed Robber and just last year, the Central Regional Minister, Isaac Edumadze described Professor Mills as a 'chamber pot' at an NPP Rally in the Presence of President Kufuor, Mr Ocran stated.
The NDC also said, at a GIMPA Seminar for NPP Ministers, President Kufuor referred to his critics as evil forces and at an NPP Congress in Sekondi President Kufuor referred to Rawlings as 'Sasabonsam'. Mr Ocran said since NPP assumed office in 2001 they have consistently described NDC former Ministers as thieves and criminals but the Pastors have kept quite.
