The Director of Elections for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sir John Ayensu has urged Wasa Amenfi East Constituency Executives oto unite and strengthen the party structures ahead of the upcoming Constituency elections.
The NDC party is preparing to elect its new Constituency Executives to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years next month.
Speaking on Rivers FM,Sir Ayensu cautioned all party members who had picked up forms hoping to contest for the various positions in the party to be mindful of their utterances during their campaign tour when the period is due.
He said, the various aspirants seek to provide their quota towards the party's victory come 2020 but that doesn't mean they should rain abusive languages on others to tarnish their image.
He appealed to the aspirants to eschew unwarranted critism and other behaviours which may be detrimental to the party during their main campaign tour in 2020.
"I will say in some way, there are some tension on me. The tension is that, as a Director of Elections who also heads the Election Committee, I must be well organised, prepared to beat-up time and to ensure peaceful exercise" he stressed.
He stated that within an hour when the floor were opened for aiming aspirants to pick-up the nomination forms, he was impressed and shocked by the enthusiasm showed up by the aiming aspirants which according to him, this year's turn out has recorded an improvement as compared to previous once.
"In fact within an hour, over 60 people came for the nomination forms. So, there has been a massive improvement" he added.
According to him, the vetting process will take off on the 25th May, 2018 to select competent and eligible candidate to contest for the various positions which they are expected to lead the party to victory.
Sir Ayensu added that, the party has fixed 23rd June, 2018 to elect its party executives after the vetting process by the vetting committee is completed.
