NDC Guru Warns Frimpong Boateng

...Stay Away From Politics & Concentrate On Your Profession

PROF. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the nation?s premier teaching hospital who recently decleared his political ambition to run for the NPP presidential slot for 2008 has been cautioned to concentrate seriously on his surgical profession and stay away from politics.

?Prof. Frimpong Boateng might have excelled in his profession as a heart surgeon all right and also as the CEO of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, he might have contributed his part, however as to whether this achievement has made him a good politician is yet to be seen. My simple advice to him is that he should concentrate on his profession and stay away from politics ,? Mr. Ofosu Ampofo, National Organiser of Ghana?s largest opposition NDC has said. Ofosu Ampofo said this when commenting on Peace FM news paper review on Thursday on the declaration by Prof. Frimpong Boateng to contest for the 2008 NPP presidential slot. It would be recalled that last Monday, THE SUN carried a story about Prof. Boateng?s open declaration to party executives at Tarkwa his decision to run for the NPP presidential slot for 2008.

After the publication, Prof. Boateng came out to formally announced his decision to run for the NPP slot.

According to Ofosu Ampofo over the years he has not seen the involvement of Prof. Frimpong Boateng in the NPP politics and for him to come out all of a sudden to declare his decision to contest the presidential race would be a waste of resources.

Over the year I have not seen Prof. Frimpong Boateng?s involvement in the scheme of things in NPP. May be he was doing it quietly. If that is not the case I am afraid that it takes more than his achievements to be good politician,? Ofosu Ampofo said.

?Somebody may be pushing him to contest which I may not know but to contest for a party like NPP or such position takes more than his achievements as good heart surgeon and CEO of Korle-Bu,? the NDC organizer said.

Mr. Ampofo also took a swap of what he called monecracy in the nation?s politics.

He noted that political position should not be handed to the highest bidders in terms of those who could offer to pay more. The use of mobile phones and kidnapping of delegates must give way to transparency if the nation is to get the best materials to occupy the political post.
