NDC Reconciliation Talks kick off today?

Joy Online --Talks to reconcile feuding factions in the NDC will be held today at the instance of party founder, Jerry John Rawlings.
Party officials say today?s meeting should settle differences that threaten the unity of the country?s largest opposition group.
The forum at the Karma conference centre is also expected to serve as a strategic planning forum ahead of the NDC?s national congress next month.
But Dr. Obed Asamoah is unlikely to attend the forum.
JOY News sources say the party chairman traveled out of the country to avoid an encounter with the party founder today.
Acting NDC General Secretary Bede Ziedeng has however disclaimed the suggestion.
He told JOYNEWS that Dr. Asamoah had scheduled a medical appointment abroad way before Mr. Rawlings? invitation.

NDC Peace talks in limbo

(CITI NEWS) -- The fate of the scheduled talks between the two major factions of the opposition National Democratic Congress is currently in limbo as it is uncertain if one of the major factions in the feud, Dr. Obed Yaw Asamoah would be present at the talks.
The talks to reconcile the feuding factions in the opposition NDC was scheduled for today following moves to solidify the party and present a united front ahead of the 2008 presidential election.
Reports have indicated bad blood between the party?s chairman, Dr. Obed Asamoah and its founder Former President Jerry Rawlings.
The meeting is at the instance of the former president. Special Assistant to the former president, Victor Smith, confirmed this to CITI EYEWITNESS NEWS last Friday and emphasised that the meeting would also create the platform for all other auxiliary issues in the party to be settled.
