The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Volta Regional Secretariat on Friday released timetables for nominations for the vacant Akatsi-South and Buem constituencies to be held in January this year.
Nominations for the Akatsi-South Constituency opens on Saturday, January 12 and closes on Wednesday, January 16.
A press release signed by Simon Amegashie-Viglo, Volta Regional Secretary of the NDC, said the venue for receiving nominations is the Akatsi-South Constituency office of the NDC.
The release said vetting of aspirants would take place at the ‘Residency’ in Ho on Thursday, January 17, 1000 hours “by a team composed of constituency, regional and national executives.
It said the NDC primary for the constituency would be held at Akatsi on Saturday, January 19.
The release gave the time-table for the Buem Constituency as follows, opening and closing of nominations, Monday, January 14, and Monday January 21 respectively at the Buem Constituency office at Jasikan.
Vetting of aspirants is on Wednesday, January 23 also at the “Residency,” by the same team.
The Primary is slated for Saturday, January 26 at Jasikan.
The Electoral Commission (EC) on Thursday announced bye-elections for Akatsi-South Constituency on February 5, and for Buem Constituency on February 26, this year.
The Akatsi-South seat was vacated by Mr Edward Doe Adjaho on his election as Speaker of the Sixth Parliament, while the Buem seat became vacant on the death on Christmas Day of Mr Henry Ford Kamel, MP elect.
Mr Kamel, until his death, was also the Volta Regional Minister.
The NDC release said filing of papers with the EC for the Akatsi-South bye-election is on Monday, January 21 and Tuesday, 22, while filing for the Buem election will be on Tuesday, January 29, and Wednesday, January 30, this year.
