An aspiring parliamentary candidate of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Atwima-Mponua, Mrs. Theresa Adomako Tawia, has called on her supporters to be civil and show a high level of political maturity.
She said all should ensure clean and decent campaign to sustain the unity and cohesion of the party, and that, provoking or running down others to make them look bad was distasteful and not noble.
Mrs. Adomako Tawia, a former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, gave the advice after submitting her nomination form to the constituency officers at Nyinahin.
She said it was important for everybody to recognize that “this is purely an internal contest” and therefore should never be allowed to create cracks and unnecessary tension.
The contest for the parliamentary ticket is a straight battle between Mrs. Adomako-Tawia and the incumbent DCE, Mr. Stephen Yeboah.
She asked every genuine member and sympathizer of the NDC to put the general good of the party ahead of all other considerations and expressed optimism that, they would emerge from the parliamentary primary election, more united and well-focused on the common goal of delivering the seat to the NDC in year 2016.
Mr. Akwasi Twumasi, the Constituency Chairman, who received her nomination papers urged members of the party to play “by the rules of the game”.
