NDC candidate promises to unseat NPP Navrongo Central MP

Navrongo (UE), Oct. 5, GNA - Mr Samson T. Chiragia, one of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary aspirants eying the Navrongo Central seat, said his ultimate aim was to wrestle power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that had retained the seat four consecutive times.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday after going through the vetting process with other two contestants including the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr. Mark Woyongo at Navrongo.

Mr. Chiragia wondered why the NDC kept losing the Navrongo Central seat, saying ”There is something wrong going on and there is the need to change the trend, and I strongly belief that I hold the key to addressing the issues to enable the party to take the seat.”

He said currently majority of people in the constituency had thrown their weight behind him and were giving him all the encouragement and assurance to help him to take over the seat.

Mr Chiragia said a major challenge confronting the NDC which was making it difficult to wrestle power from Mr Joseph Kofi Adda, the NPP incumbent MP, was lacked of adequate logistics to facilitate effective campaign.

He stated that when he wins the seat, his major focus would be on how to develop the human resource base in the constituency, especially the youth and that he would empower them to establish small scale business associations for guinea fowl and livestock rearing, block making among others.

”I will build their capacities in the small scale business to ensure that they become sustainable by accessing funding from Non-Governmental Organizations…”

A group of NDC youth who thronged the party’s office to support Mr Chiragia said they were solidly behind him because he is the only marketable candidate to wrestle the seat.

Mr. Foster Avio, a member of Mr. Chiragia Campaign Team, said already more than 34 youth groups had formed a campaign team to support Mr. Chiragia.
