Deputy National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dominic Eduah, has expressed apprehension at how the erstwhile NDC government managed the institutions that are supposed to assist the youth establish themselves and earn a decent living.
He was of the view that the actions and inactions of the previous government gave the impression that they do not care about the plight of the struggling Ghanaian youth.
"During the GYEEDA scandal, when you consider the GHC240, 000, 000 paid to Better Ghana Management Service alone, which was captured in the 2013 Auditor General’s report which described it unambiguously as ‘not value for money’, and you add the over GHC230, 000, 000 given to sixteen other service providers that could not be accounted for, then you know the NDC are dangerous to the growth of the youth" Dominic Eduah lashed out.
‘This is the same GYEEDA that the NDC renamed Youth Employment Agency (YEA) but the cabal in that organization are still in there. The NDC turned YEA into a cash cow that they were using to milk millions of cedis of taxpayers money every month to over three thousand unidentified people.
Speaking on UTV, Dominic Eduah explained that "but for the change of government and the vigilance and commitment of the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer Justin Kodua Frimpong and his team, this sham would have continued. We the youth are grateful to the current administrators of the YEA and we hope it would be a major turnaround for our own good".
