NDC gets two more seats in the Upper East Region

Bolgatanga, Dec. 8, GNA - Mr Dominic Azumah, incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the Garu-Tempane constituency retained the Parliamentary seat, with 16318 votes to beat his main competitor, Mr. Alhassan Samari of the National Patriotic Party (NPP) who had 15650 votes. The Electoral Commission's (EC) confirmed results indicate that NDC also won the Presidential elections, polling 19477 while NPP got 12564. The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) polled 408 votes for the Presidential elections and 1241 votes for Parliamentary, while the People's National Convention (PNC) party polled 462 for Presidential and 445 for Parliamentary. The Convention People's Party polled 234 votes for the presidential elections and 471 for the parliamentary, while DPP had 88, and RDP, 64 Presidential votes and the Independent Candidate got 178 votes. There were 1752 rejected votes from the Presidential and 1255 from the Parliamentary.

In the Bolgatanga Constituency, Mr Opam Brown Akolbire of the NDC won the Parliamentary seat with 28656 votes while the NDC Presidential elections polled 30941 to beat the other parties. The NPP got 13554 for presidential and 10063 for Parliamentary, while PNC which had held Bolgatanga as its strong hold for the past three elections, had 4393 for Presidential and 10009 votes for Parliamentary. The CPP polled 472 for Presidential and 640 votes for Parliamentary. Democratic Freedom Party had 162 votes for Presidential and 229 for Parliamentary and DPP had 60 for Presidential and 97 for Parliamentary while RPD that had no Parliamentary Candidate had 52 votes for Presidential and the Independent candidate got 63 votes.
