Samuel Yaw Adusei, a former Deputy Minister for Works and Housing and former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister has stated that the next National Democratic Congress (NDC) government under John Dramani Mahama will establish a secretariat to ensure the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy Policy.

Speaking on Top Radio's Final Point programme, hosted by Kwabena Owusu Agyemang, he emphasized that the policy will mainly target the economy's three main activities: the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors.

He stated that the mode of implementation would be both gradual and incremental, adding that the vehicles of implementation of the policy would be the ministries, departments, agencies, and the private sector.

He mentioned that in its initial implementation, the Secretariat will embark on a "roadshow" to engage appropriate stakeholders nationwide to get as many companies and individuals as possible to subscribe to the policy.

"So the government is going to be deliberate about it; it's going to have its secretariat aside from the agricultural policies we intend to introduce," he stated.

He described the policy as a novel initiative by John Dramani Mahama to expand the economy and provide employment opportunities beyond normal working hours.

"It is not a policy that is out of place to have some people like Bawumia describe it as empty. It cannot be empty. How is a 24-hour economy empty? Most countries are practising it. When you go to the UK, it is practised there," he said.
