Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sam Payne has bemoaned the fact that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is laying blame at the doorstep of President Akufo-Addo for every negative thing that happens in the country.
He was speaking to some claims by Civil Society groups that the fundamental human rights of Gregory Afoko, a murder suspect, has been violated.
Gregory Afoko is entangled in a murder trial following the murder of Adams Mahama, late Upper East Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party in 2015.
The controversy started when the bail ruling in favour of the suspect was reportedly flouted.
Pressure group, OccupyGhana in a statement is demanding that the officers who flouted Afoko’s bail order be punished.
Part of the statement read, “Ordinarily, we would hesitate to comment on a matter that is pending in court. But we must be concerned when there is any appearance of gross and blatant violations of the constitutional rights of a citizen.”
The NDC, in reaction to this, has strongly condemned Nana Akufo-Addo, touted for championing human rights when he practised as a lawyer, for allowing such gross violation of individual rights to take place under his stewardship as President.
Sam Payne, who was obviously tired of the fact that the NDC keeps pointing accusing fingers at the President said, "as for the NDC I am sure even if they can't satisfy their wives in bed, they will blame Akufo-Addo."
He was contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Wednesday.
