NDC must go back to its social democratic philosophy – Cadres demand

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has thrown away its social democratic philosophy on which the party was built, Chairman of the Cadres group Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere has said.

According to him, the party currently has abandoned it grassroots organization and mobilization causing aparthy among party members leading to a painful defeat in the 2016 general elections.

Speaking at national Cadres conference in Ejisu in the Ashanti region over the weekend, on the theme: Effective mobilizations and organization for victory 2020, the role of Cadres, Chairman of the group Mr. Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere congratulated the Party for initiating reforms in the party’s branch level for effective grass-root mobilization after 2016 elections.

“We will like to congratulate national executives for working tirelessly to reconstruct the structures of the party especially branch level activities organization. What is needed now is to ensure that the branches are actually functional and vibrant for the task and challenges ahead. There’s no substitute for grassroots mobilization and organization for electoral victory. As Cadres we have a big stake in the NDC’s victory 2020 as we have to do all that we can to support and articulate everything in the growth and development of our party’’ Mr Antwi Boasiako said.

He charged the Cadres to put together their collective energy and expertise at the disposal of the party and mobilize themselves to occupy the rounds in house to house tandem with the party activist act the branch level.

“The failure of the NPP led Nana Akufo Addo family and friends government and its abundant mass unemployment growth, growing insecurity failure of indigenous enterprises to thrive coupled with sheer arrogance and act of impunity of is appointees should galvanize the progressive forces of this country to organise as never before to rescue the country from the super incompetent government’’ he pleaded.

He, therefore, charged the party to stop organizing funfair activities which continue to fail the party in elections.

”Organization is decisive and not a fashion show nor a beautify contest but a serious hard working enterprise requiring dedication and commitment to build a strong vibrant and dynamic party on the ground capable of wrestling power from the NPP government. We must do serious grass root organization at workplaces, campuses, communities and institution to identify our allies and sympathizers to persuade and galvanize their support unto the NDC Platform is a duty we need to execute with commitment drive as cadres.”

The group declared their support for former President John Dramani Mahama the elected flagbearer of the National Democratic congress and pledged to campaign for his victory in elections 2020.

“We Cadres we back JM for 2020. We commit to grassroots mobilization and organization we will lead the campaign for intensive membership drive and mentor the youth on probity accountability and social justice which are the key pillars of the NDC philosophy of social democracy’’ Antwi Boasiako pledged.
