The boot-for-boot comment attributed to former President John Dramani Mahama which has become a cliché among supporters and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been taken to another level, MyNewsGh.com has observed.
In what appears as showcasing their readiness to match the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) boot-for-boot, the Ashanti Regional Executives of the NDC have outdoored ‘boot-for-boot’ t-shirts in Kumasi during one of their routine health walks.
Despite all the bashing and insults received by former President John Mahama from Civil Society groups, Peace Council and other pressure groups for making the comment, the leadership of NDC branch in Ashanti region have printed boot-for-boot T-shirts which is suggestive.
It would be recalled that Former President John Dramani Mahama in the run-up to the NDC flagbearer contest sounded a word of caution to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that they [NDC] will “match them boot-for-boot” if they do not desist from attacking their members.
Mr Mahama who gave the warning at a meeting with supporters in the Adaklu Constituency said, “We are not going to joke in 2020 and I’m sounding a warning to the NPP – we are going to match them boot-for-boot.”
MyNewsGh.com’s Ashanti Regional Correspondent reported that members of NDC wore the Mahama boot-for-boot t-shirt at a health walk organized by leadership of NDC in the Oforikrom Constituency of the Ashanti region.
Speaking to members who were seen wearing the red t-shirts with the inscription ‘boot-for-boot’, they explained that party is serious to win power from NPP.
According to them, they are solidly behind former president John Dramani Mahama for the making boot-for-boot comment.
“NPP cannot win 2020 elections if the election is conducted fairly. They have planned with the EC boss Jean Mensah to rig the election. We will match them boot-for-boot. NPP cannot intimate us. Ghanaians will vote for John Mahama and NDC” they said.
