NPP Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, sent a clear warning to the NDC and former President Mahama with an electrifying crowd at Nima and Mamobi in the Ayawaso East and North of the Greater Accra Region, respectively.
Bawumia continued his tour of the Greater Accra Region on Monday by visiting the two Constituencies. He spent the entire afternoon and evening interacting with residents.
First, he engaged with community stakeholders, including his usual audience of Chiefs, Clergy, Imams, and opinion leaders at Pig Farm, before storming the communities, which were thought to be fortresses of the NDC.
However, the NDC has been waning in numbers since the emergence of Bawumia, first as a Running Mate and then as Vice President. And since his historic election as Flagbearer of the NPP, becoming the first Muslim to lead a major political party into a presidential election, the NDC's numbers have been under severe threat.
The visit by Dr. Bawumia, which saw a number of young voters turn up for him, was a clear signal to the NDC of a tilt toward the status quo.
After his engagements in Mamobi, the mammoth crowd followed Bawumia on foot and on motorbikes to his next stop at the auditorium of the Presby Church in Nima, where he met scores of supporters.
On the ground, the crowd was so huge that those who could not access the auditorium outnumbered those inside the hall by far.
Inside the auditorium, Dr. Bawumia's presentation focused on achievements of the government, his contributions as Vice President to support the President and a number of policies he intends to implement as President, which he appealed to the audience and Ghanaians to support him to do.
More dramatic scenes awaited outside as Dr. Bawumia exited after his presentation. More had joined, filling the entire compound of the church and its surroundings with people.
While the excited crowd struggled to catch a glimpse of Bawumia, he and his entourage meandered their way through the crowd to access the campaign bus.
Dr. Bawumia is expected to continue his tour of the Greater Accra Region today.
