Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono region, Kwame Baffoe alias Abronye DC has described the newly launched www.nppfailedpromises.com by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to track and fact check the 2016 manifesto campaign promises of the Akufo-Addo government as “satanic”.
The NDC at its 3rd weekly press conference addressed by former Deputy Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to assess the NPP government’s performance on the theme, “Claims, Deception and Reality”, claimed that out of 631 promises made by the current administration, only 86 have been achieved, representing 14 percent of success, rating the government’s performance F.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had however earlier pegged the government’s success at 78% on the assessment of 388 manifesto promises during the launch of the website, www.delivery.gov.gh, to monitor its manifesto promises at a similar event in February this year.
“We have discovered that the 631 promises that we listed, after thorough analysis, combing through documents, what they’ve told us in Parliament, ladies and gentleman, it will shock you to realize that only 86 out of these 631 promises have been delivered. So the percentage achieved is 14%, not 78%,” Hon. Ablakwa said.
But in a swift rebuttal, Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah called out the NDC for increasing the NPP’s promises from 388 to 631 to enable their party make a claim of dishonesty against the Akufo-Addo led government.
“As we get into the 2020 national conversation period, one of the narratives that the NDC seek to carve is a narrative of dishonesty and in order to give life or credence to that narrative, they have to create scenarios that if indeed we made 388 promises, they will find some ways of adding some 235 and claim that we made 631 and in the end say therefore that we have been dishonest”.
“They make this argument because what they seek is to downplay our achievement as a country and as a people” he added.
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM in reaction to the NDC’s claims monitored by MyNewsGh.com on Tuesday morning, Kwame Baffoe Abronye said the newly launched website of the NDC is demonic and “meant to steal data from the unsuspecting public”.
“That website is satanic; it has been designed to steal all your data immediately you open it; even in opposition these guys are trying to steal from Ghanaians, how much more if they come to power. I’m warning everyone wanting to open that website to stop or they will be robbed off their internet bundle”, Abronye said.
He also said 98% of the information put out by the NDC on that website is false.
