NDC serial callers on strike

National Democratic Congress (NDC) communicators in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, have embarked on an indefinite strike.

They have consequently demanded a colossal amount of money from the party before they effectively defend government’s policies during radio programmes.

The NDC communicators cited neglect by the party’s hierarchy as the main reason for abandoning the ruling political party, DAILY GUIDE has gathered.

According to them, they don’t feel secure to take part in radio programmes on a daily basis to propagate the programmes of the party.

They particularly accused Samuel Sarpong, Ashanti Regional Minister and Kojo Bonsu, the Kumasi Mayor, of neglecting them.

The aggrieved NDC communicators vowed not to defend party again until the party shows interest in their welfare and offer adequate protection.

A source in the ruling party told DAILY GUIDE that the economic crunch in the country was adversely affecting the NDC communicators.

He said the party’s leadership was enjoying while the grassroots members, including the communicators, were unduly suffering.

The NDC member, who pleaded anonymity, stated categorically that they would demand huge sums of money from the party before they return to work for the party.

The NDC communicator noted that virtually all the groups in the party were allowed to meet President Mahama, but the communicators were denied that opportunity.

The source said the communicators wanted to inform President Mahama about the hardship they were suffering.

We even struggle to get money for transport to defend the party on the numerous radio stations in the city, he said.

The source said one Wofa Atta, who is NDC communicator in the area, was recently assaulted during a radio programme, but the party neglected him.

He noted that the NDC communicators were cash-strapped.
