Former National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kofi Adams has warned that any attempt to mortgage the party’s fortunes by electing a novice to lead it in 2020 will be disastrous.

According to him, the party requires an experienced person who has been tried and tested and is capable of pulling the masses along to lead it as its 2020 flagbearer and subsequently win the general elections.

Speaking in an interview with Homebase TV, the 2016 Campaign Coordinator for former President John Dramani Mahama maintains he [Mahama] is indisputably the best to lead the umbrella family in 2020.

“The presidential primaries we are about to conduct, we will start from a higher position and President is in the best person for NDC. When we take president Mahama to the 2020 polls we are starting on a higher position. This is not the time for us to start from class one”, he stated.

He admits that there were certain things that might have gone wrong under the tenure of the former President but was quick to add that people will still appreciate he was better than what is currently happening in the country under the watch of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Mr Adams appealed to delegates to grant audience to the rest of the candidates who are seeking to compete with John Mahama stating that it falls within their democratic rights.

“Anyone who wants to stand as flagbearer, I urge the party members to listen to them. Give them an opportunity to tell you what they have in store for the party. I will however urge that we all come together and vote for John Dramani Mahama as our flagbeaer”, he urged.

Voting Mahama in large numbers by members of the NDC especially delegates will be an indication the party is ready for the 2020 polls.
