Goaso (B/A), June 23, GNA - A youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Goaso, capital of Asunafo North Municipality on Tuesday, locked the offices of the Municipal Mutual Health Insurance Scheme to prevent the workers from carrying out their duties.
When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the scene in the morning, people who had come to register with the scheme together with registered subscribers were stranded at the frontage of the premises. The youth group alleged that during the 2008 elections Mr Jether Appau, the Manager of the Scheme, campaigned against the NDC party that the then candidate "Professor Evans Atta Mills was incompetent to rule the nation and that voting for him was not the right decision". When contacted, Chief Superintendent Kwabena Bediako, the Goaso Divisional Police Commander, described the action of the youth as "unfortunate" and assured that his outfit would ensure that those involved were apprehended and brought to book.
Meanwhile, a team of police officers, led by the divisional commander had managed to open the offices and work had begun in an atmosphere of peace.
