A group of loyalists of the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sagnarigu District of the Northern region are up in arms against the inclusion of the failed parliamentary candidate of the party in the Tamale North constituency, Hajia Kulsumi Mohammed, in the shortlisted District Chief Executive nominees for consideration by the President.
The group of ten in a petition to the regional executives of the NPP accused Hajia Kulsumi of among other things embezzling party funds and other items meant for distribution in the run up to the 2016 elections.
"In the process of raising funds to undertake party activities, the 'adopt a polling station' monies (GHC6,000) were paid into her personal accounts for her usage".
"Motorbikes and bicycles and meant for distribution to indigenes at the hinterlands were distributed by Hajia to her family members" the group alleged.
The petition signed by Abdul Razak Iliasu, Alhassan Abdul Majeed, Musah Abdulai, Alhassan Alhassan and Alhassan Abdul Karim among others said during the electioneering period, Hajia Kulsumi exhibited high level of 'incompetence' and 'irresponsibleness' as her actions and inactions they say led to many divisions within and among both constituency executives and supporters of the NPP in the constituency.
They also accused her of not knowing the Sagnarigu District "as it was clearly exhibited on GH One Television with Nana Aba Anamoah on their engagement.
The concerned members of the NPP in the Sagnarigu District however appealed to the Regional Executives of the party to conduct further and thorough investigation into the issues raised in the petition against Hajia Kulsumi in order to take an appropriate and well-informed decision.
The group is of the view that the selection of Hajia Kulsumi Mohammed among the potential candidates to be appointed as DCE for the area would not only have negative impact on the government's noble aim of fighting corruption and the common problems of the area, but it would adversely affect the fortunes of the NPP government in the Sagnarigu and Tamale North Constituencies.
Meanwhile, the regional executives of the party are yet to respond to the petition against the selection of Hajia Kulsumi Mohammed among the shortlisted nominees for the office of District Chief Executive.
