NPP National Women’s Organiser goes berserk

Officials of privately-owned domestic airline company, 540 Airlines, on duty at the
Tamale Airport on Monday were left shaken and traumatized when the National Women’s
Organizer of the NPP, Otiko Djaba, went berserk and on rampage, damaging vital
equipment in their office because they could not get her a place on board their
Accra-bound aircraft that day.
For close to three minutes, the airline officials, shocked at the zeal with which
she went smashing items at the office, allowed her to have her way until security
officers came and bundled her out of the office.
An official of 540 Airlines who told the Daily Post that Otiko Djaba came to their
office that day brandishing one of the company’s flight tickets bearing the name of
Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, National Chairman of the party.
Ostensibly, she had attended the 7-days ceremony of the late Former Vice-President,
Aliu Mahama. Otiko is said to have told the 540 Airline officials that Jake, having
gotten a seat on a Ghana Airforce plane bound for Accra, had asked her to use his
ticket to board 540 Airline’s flight that day to Accra after she missed her own
Starbow flight earlier that morning.
However, it was explained to her that the airline does not accept the transfer of
tickets from one passenger to the other. What is usually done is a refund of the
money when ticket is returned. After this, she could buy her own ticket. However,
she was told it was too late for her to avail herself of this opportunity since the
last flight was taking off in minutes. This infuriated the NPP National Women’s
Organizer and before one could tell what was about to happen, she went berserk,
smashing items in the office and pushing some of the officials around.
Stunned officials of the airline managed to inform their security personnel who came
to bundle her out.Sources say later on, some NPP officials arrived at the offices of
the airline pleading with those present not to talk to the press about the incident
and apologizing on behalf of Otiko Djaba for her conduct.
