Some polling station executives and electoral area coordinators for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Juaben have declared their unflinching support for the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Ama Pomaa Boateng to run unopposed ahead of the party's parliamentary primaries.
The ruling New Patriotic Party is expected to hold parliamentary primaries in areas where it has sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) on Saturday, April 25, 2020.
The NPP has I69 sitting Members of Parliament out of the total 275 seats in Parliament.
The party has already elected more than 95 Parliamentary candidates who would be contesting on its ticket in orphan constituencies (areas the party does not have sitting MPs).
The same April 25, 2020 date would also be used to elect a flagbearer for the party for Election 2020.
Speaking to Daniel Kaku, the President for the Concerned Polling Station Executives and Electoral Area Coordinators in Juaben Constituency who is also the Electoral Area Coordinator in Nkyerepoaso, Nana Owusu, he said they back the decision of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of allowing female MPs in Ashanti Region to run unopposed.
"We the concerned polling station executives of Juaben Constituency humbly support the decision of National Executive Committee (NEC) to allow female Members of Parliament in Ashanti Region to participate in the party upcoming parliamentary primaries uncontested", he said.
The decision by the NEC is expected to give the party more female Members of Parliament from 2021 to 2025.
He emphasized that Mrs. Ama Pomaa Boateng has performed extremely well in the area and deserves another term.
"Hon. Ama Pomaa Boateng, a female MP at Juaben Constituency in Ashanti Region has performed extremely well of which she deserves another term", he stated.
He added that, "Her personal relationship with us as polling station executives is exceptional. Various developmental projects spearheaded by our Member of Parliament deserves another uninterrupted term".
He, therefore acknowledged that, "Over the years, our welfare has been her paramount concern being it school fees, job opportunities and many other things that makes us feel sense of belonging".
"The party's call on affirmative action in retaining female MP's is a good call that we have to support at all times especially in its strong hold", he stressed
He concluded that, "As we prepare for December 7 elections, we the polling station delegates look forward in a massive win for our Prez Nana Akufo-Addo and Ama Pomaa (MP)".
