The Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Mr Ben Ephson, has said that the victory by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, provided an opportunity for activists of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to protest against the imposition of candidates by the top hierarchy of the party.
He asserted that party activists in the area were not too pleased with the selection of Mankattah as the NPP?s candidate and they chose the by-election to register their protest.
According to Mr Ephson, who is also an independent poll monitor, some members of the NPP were not happy with the attempt by the party to impose candidates on them.
He reiterated that the choice of Asafoatse Mankattah as the party?s candidate was not the best.
He however added that the outcome of the Odododiodio by-elections should serve as a warning signal to the NPP in the run up to the 2008 General elections.
Ben Ephson stated that the 8000 plus margin the NDC won the Odododiodio polls has given the party a big propaganda tool for the future.
