NPP Steering Committee meets over Pension Fund standoff

Deputy Minority leader, Dominic Nitiwul has revealed that the Steering Committee of the New Patriotic Party and its flagbearer,Nana Akufo-Addo have met over the pension fund management confusion between government and public sector workers.

According to him, although any politician will side with workers in the ongoing misunderstanding, the party has resolved to keep quiet over the development.

“The Government created the problem and they must solve it.”

“Yes the Pension Fund issue was discussed at a Steering Committee meeting and our strategy is that we are not getting involved in that issue," the Bimbila MP wrote on his Facebook.

He says he finds it strange that the some government officials are blaming the opposition for the frequent agitations on the labour front.

“As far as the NDC is concerned, the NPP is behind all their problems and we will not fall into their trap by commenting and they know that any good politician would back workers in this current issue and that is what they have been waiting for.

“Well sorry NDC solve the problem you have created we are not getting ourselves involved so please leave me alone. Nana Addo and NPP have no power over workers and we are not involved in what they do or will do” he stated.

A standoff between government and labour over their pension fund management led to a civil action that saw workers abandon their offices for several days.
