Andrew Amoako Asiamah, the second deputy speaker of parliament, has received the support of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as their 2024 parliamentary candidate for Fomena.

At the National Executive Council meeting, the party gave him a unanimous endorsement.

The party is overwhelmed by the kind of support it has received from the 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament, who is currently the independent Member of Parliament for Fomena, according to NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, who announced the NEC's decision to the leadership of the Constituency on Thursday.

The party, according to Chairman Wontumi, is quite certain that it would revert to the NPP when he runs for the Fomena seat.

He stated that such an expression of devotion, love, and support from Asiamah shouldn't go unnoticed, expressing the party’s gratitude to him for saving its image in Parliament.

Chairman Wontumi stated that his return to his roots was a sign of success for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the constituency rather than just business as usual.

In response, the Second Deputy Speaker stated that he had missed every aspect of the party that he would always hold dear.

In the Fomena constituency, Asiamah promised he was prepared to lead the party to a historic landslide electoral win for both himself and Dr. Bawumia.

He exhorted everyone to set aside their differences and cooperate for the party's overall benefit.

To him, it was more crucial that the constituency's leaders—especially the Assembly members—run campaigns focused on the several projects that are now being carried out there in order to increase support for the party.
