The Western Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Owusu Ankoma, is unhappy with the actions and inactions of some leading members of the party, particularly regarding the organization of the impending polling station elections.
According Nana Owusu Ankoma, he had tried to keep things bottled up, hoping the situation might improve, but stressed that the current state of affairs of the party in the region is not the best due to blatant factionalism being exhibited by some hierarchy members.
“…the situation in the Western region is very bad. Even as a Regional Chairman, I only learnt that forms have arrived in the region, but I have not sighted them. I don’t even know where the forms are. I got to know through Sir John…the forms are with my Secretary but as I speak, they are being distributed selectively.
“…so it would be a lie to tell you that the Western Region is ready to have the elections on the 14th,” Nana Owusu Ankoma told Adakabre Frimpong Manso.
He was speaking in an interview on NEAT FM on the preparedness of the party to conduct polling station elections scheduled to be held on the 14th of December, 2013.
Nana Owusu Ankoma lamented that he had been sidelined in the organization of the polls, though going by the party’s constitution, he is the one expected to be spearheading the preparations. He blamed the NPP’s General Secretary, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John, for the division in the region.
“…the forms went to every Regional Chairman. I know that Anto received the forms. I know that Ekow Smith received the forms, but Western Region forms were given to my Secretary. For reasons known to Sir John and his people. I have called Sir John right now and he failed to tell me anything meaningful,” he disclosed.
